About

I am Anaya Kapoor, a henna and mehndi artist based in the space between tradition and the endless scroll of beautiful inspiration. I started practicing at fourteen, learning the slow squeeze of the cone from my aunt during Eid gatherings in my grandmother’s kitchen. What began as festival decoration became an obsession with pattern, negative space, and the way a single motif can travel from a fingertip to a wrist with perfect rhythm.

My design language pulls heavily from the visual curation I see on Pinterest: Moroccan geometry, Rajasthani florals, minimalist finger accents, and the bold negative space that makes dark stain pop against skin. I specialize in bridal mehndi, where I spend four to six hours building full-hand narratives that include hidden initials, mandalas that echo the wedding lehenga, and delicate wrist cuffs that photograph beautifully against gold bangles. Festival work is faster, more playful: sunflowers for Coachella, delicate vines for Diwali parties, or celestial moons for intimate gatherings.

I mix my own paste from Rajasthani henna powder, lemon juice, sugar, and essential oils. No chemicals, no black henna, no shortcuts. The stain develops over 48 hours, shifting from bright orange to deep burgundy, and I love explaining aftercare almost as much as I love the drawing itself. Each client leaves with a small printed card and my genuine hope that they will return for the next celebration in their life.
